1. Please describe three examples of symbols you encounter in your life.
Billboard, advertisement, newspaper.
2. Please describe two possible meanings of the green light at the end of Daisy's dock in The Great Gatsby.
To be green with envy or that it was his chance to make a move.
3. What are some ways people are similar to animals?
we give, we take, we eat, we sheet, we mate, we sleep.
4. What is the one major way people are different from every other animal, including other hominid species? We think differently and we are just not the same genetically.
5. How does telling stories -- and inventing symbols -- empower people to organize in large numbers?
People will recognize the symbol and stand for what it means if they like the symbol/stories.

3. Is a word a sign or a symbol? Why? A word is a sign because it means something
4. Describe one natural sign that you've seen in the world. Thunder the sign is that its dangerous and loud. 5. Describe one symbol you've seen in the world. What (referent) did it stand for? How did you know what it meant? The peace symbol, it stands for peace, lots of people use it and say its for peace.
